Filing a small claim should not affect your credit rating. If you have a county court judgement (CCJ) made against you, your credit rating could be affected. A CCJ will be made against you if the court rules that you owe someone money and you have to pay it back. The CCJ will appear on your credit report.

You can find out if a CCJ has been made against you by searching the Register of Judgments, Orders and Fines, or by requesting a copy of your credit report.
